1971 Specification of the Trintella IIA

This is useful background data from Anne Wever whose yard built the Trintella IIA's. While a lighter boat, with a different fit-out than adopted by Tylers, the equipment is indicative.

The Trintella II A was designed on demand of our clients for a bigger Trintella. The experience obtained from building 150 Trintella’s and over 200 steel Trintel’s has been fully used in this Trintella II A.

The design enables us not only to deliver a fast boat, but also a remarkable comfortable one. We believe that we offer the maximum of comfort which is possible in a boat of 10 metres, that can be handled by two people with ease.

Just as with the Trintella I, this boat, because of the warm look of its teak decks and mahogany top, will appeal to those sailors who want a polyester boat with the appearance of a classical sailboat.

The equipment of the boat is so complete that the owner has to add only his nautical instruments and personal goods.

Specifications

Hull, deck and cockpit are made of glass fiber reinforced polyester, as is the rudder. The thickness of the hull varies from at least 8 mm. up to 15 mm. at the keel. The lead ballast is cast in polyester. Keel and hull are made of one piece, so there are no keel bolts. The deck is of sandwich construction (two layers of glass fiber with balsawood in between), overlaid with a planked teak deck of 15 mm., with cast-in rubber seams. We can therefore guarantee a really watertight deck. The polyester water tank (120 I.) has been built into the keel. The stainless steel fuel tank(45 I.) has been built in under deck.

The rudder has been fitted out with a ss. shaft, the tiller is made of laminated mahogany, can be lifted up and is fitted with ss. fittings.

Mast and boom are in aluminum with ss. fittings. The boom is provided with tie reefing. Roller reefing is optional. Standing and running rigging, as well as the ½" rigging screws are made of stainless steel.

Dacron mainsail and foresail, made by a well-known sail maker, are included in the standard equipment. The cockpit is provided with loose teak benches and teak gratings. A big aft hatch gives access to a spacious ventilated storage room for sails, fenders etc.

The length of the cockpit is 1.90m, width forward 1. 65m, width aft 1. 45m. A container for 2 butane gas bottles of 3 kg. each is located under the starboard bench. The cockpit is finished by an edge of solid teak. Superstructure, cabin top and interior are made of mahogany marine plywood.

The width of the deck varies from 41 cm. up to 50 cm. The deck fittings are made of stainless steel and chromed bronze.

2 Silent sheet winches and both pulpits are made of stainless steel, 2 halyard winches in aluminum The mast can be lowered by galvanized legs and tackle that are provided.

The cabin entrance consists of two doors and a double sliding hatch on stainless rail and gliders. The whole interior with exception of the white painted ceiling is varnished.

The main cabin is provided with a dinette (U-form) which can be used as a single berth or, by lowering the table, as a double berth. Above this dinette there are lockers with and without doors.

On the port side there is the galley, 1.35m. long, 40cm. deep and 85 cm. high. Above the galley there are lockers for crockery. The galley has a Formica top, mahogany drawers and lockers, a stainless sink and a 2-burner cooker with safety gas cut-off. Under the kitchen a gas heater can be built in.

On both—sides of the cabin entrance there is a quarterberth. Over the starboard quarterberth there is a folding chart table with a removable seat for the navigator. Next to one of the quarter berths there is room for oilskins.

It is also possible to have a L-shaped kitchen to port of the entrance and a sofa opposite the dinette.

The 2 cyl. 15 HP Volvo-Penta Diesel motor MD2 with electric start is located under the cabin entrance. The electric installation is 12 Volt (2 - 6 Volts' batteries) of 120 Ampere hours.

The standing headroom is 1.85m in the main cabin and 1.75m in the forward compartment. The cabin door also closes the large clothes locker on the port side. Opposite this locker there is the toilet room with a sliding washbasin, lockers and a Raritan marine toilet. The toilet door closes the forward compartment. Toilet room and clothes locker are both provided with air scoops. The 2 berths in the forward compartment are 1.95m long and above both berths there is a shelf. There is ample room for storage under all berths. The floor is of solid teak. The lacquer of the interior can be mat of bright, just as desired. Reed wickerwork for the doors of the lockers is optional. All berths have got polyether mattresses and are tastefully covered.
